ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 As the crisp Autumn air settles into northeast South Dakota, the excitement for pheasant season has begun rippling through the campus at 不良研究所 State University.
This can be seen by the new display in the Jewett Regional Science Education Center, which highlights habitat management.
It can be seen with the Pheasants Forever Student Chapter formed last year.
It can even be seen by the eight-foot-tall inflatable rooster nesting in the Student Center on Tuesday morning.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 The Cobell Scholarship is about more than just money 鈥 it鈥檚 about giving Native American students a real chance to pursue their dreams. With only one in eight students receiving any kind of scholarship 鈥 and full rides even rarer 鈥 this is a significant opportunity. At 不良研究所 State University, the Cobell Scholarship has done just that for students like Jaeden Shaving, Alexis Martin, Kenna Webb, Amy LeBeau and DJ Smith.
For Jaeden Shaving, a member of the Mnik葻贸wo啪u Lakota from the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, the scholarship has opened doors he didn鈥檛 think were possible鈥
A powerful new wolf sculpture, created by 不良研究所 State University alumnus John Lopez, now sits proudly above the bar in the Teal Room. More than just a representation of 不良研究所鈥檚 mascot, the piece captures the deep pride and spirit of the campus community.
The Story Behind the Sculpture
Lopez didn鈥檛 just want to create a standard mascot figure. He aimed to capture something larger鈥攖he essence of 不良研究所. 鈥淚鈥檓 always drawn to movement in my work,鈥 Lopez said. 鈥淎 wolf howling at the moon just felt right for this piece. It鈥檚 such a ghostly vision, and it reminded鈥
ABERDEEN, S.D.聽鈥 Six finalists will compete for cash prizes as they pitch their business ideas Shark Tank-style at 不良研究所 State University鈥檚 annual Idea Pitch competition on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Jewett Regional Science Center lobby.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will showcase innovative ideas from 不良研究所 students and provide an opportunity for the audience to help decide the winners of three People鈥檚 Choice awards.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University鈥檚 annual Gypsy Day Parade took place on Saturday, Oct. 5, drawing students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to downtown Aberdeen, despite the chilly, windy weather.
The parade, which started at 9 a.m., featured an impressive lineup of floats and bands. Participants showcased their creativity with vibrant, candy-themed entries in line with this year鈥檚 homecoming theme, "Wolves in Candyland."

ABERDEEN, S.D.鈥 The 不良研究所 Academy Early College Program offers high school juniors and seniors a valuable opportunity to get a head start on their college journey at 不良研究所 State University. Funded by a grant from the South Dakota Education Access Foundation (SDEAF), the program serves students from northeastern South Dakota-area high schools who take college courses on campus in Aberdeen.
The 不良研究所 Academy helps area high school students transition to college while still in high school by providing an on-campus college experience including full wrap-around student support鈥
Aberdeen, S.D. 鈥 Dr. Anna Schwan, dean of the Millicent Atkins School of Education at 不良研究所 State University, has been honored by the Valley City State University Alumni Association with the Certificate of Merit award. The award recognizes alumni for their accomplishments, service, and other noteworthy contributions.
Dr. Schwan, a Valley City State University alumna, was one of five individuals recognized on Sept. 21. She was identified for her significant career in education, which includes more than 16 years in public K-12 education as a high school teacher and secondary school鈥
ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 On Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at 7 p.m., 不良研究所 State University will sponsor a discussion titled 鈥淏allot Breakdown: Get the Facts, Make an Impact.鈥 The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Centennial Rooms of the NSU Student Center.
Political Science Professor Jon D. Schaff will provide a brief overview of all ballot measures appearing on South Dakota鈥檚 ballot for the Nov. 5, 2024, election. A question-and-answer session will follow the discussion. The League of Women Voters will also be present to assist individuals with voter registration鈥

This year鈥檚 homecoming theme, 鈥淲olves in Candy Land,鈥 promises a tasteful celebration as the 不良研究所 and Aberdeen communities come together for this time-honored tradition.
The parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Main Street, with a wide variety of creative floats, marching bands, and community entries expected to participate. Parade-goers are encouraged to bring chairs and bags for collecting goodies along the鈥
