ABERDEEN, S.D.聽鈥撀犅燭he 不良研究所 Innovation and Startup Center will host a CO.STARTERS Bootcamp on Nov. 1鈥2 at the NSU Library.
This hands-on, two-day workshop is designed for busy founders who want a fast-paced opportunity to work on their business. Over the course of 12 focused hours, participants will step away from the daily grind to explore strategy, creativity, and growth鈥攚orking alongside peers, experienced facilitators, and local founders who will share their stories and insights.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University Interim President Dr. Laurie Nichols today announced the retirement of Veronica Paulson, Vice President for Finance and Administration. Paulson joined 不良研究所 in 1990 and has provided more than 35 years of dedicated service to the university, with strategic oversight of financial operations, facilities management, budgeting, and major capital projects. Paulson's retirement will be effective in June 2026.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 On Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m., the 不良研究所 State University Music Department will present a jazz concert featuring 不良研究所鈥檚 2 p.m. Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Grant Manhart. The concert will take place in the Jewett Theater at the Johnson Fine Arts Center.
There will be an engaging mix of classic and contemporary jazz charts by James Curnow, Stan Kenton, Herbie Hancock, and others.
Admission is free and open to the public.

ABERDEEN, S.D.聽鈥 Students in 不良研究所 State University鈥檚 Prisons and Penology course recently participated in an educational tour of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
The trip was organized by Dr. Lucas Z. Wiscons, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the College of Arts and Sciences, with support from Dr. Elizabeth Haller, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of English. Fifteen students took part in the tour, including six enrolled in the online section of the course.

ABERDEEN, S.D.聽鈥 不良研究所 State University student Noah Behrends was honored by the South Dakota Association of College Career Centers (SDACCC) during the organization鈥檚 Experiential Education Showcase Event, receiving a $500 scholarship for his outstanding experiential learning achievements.
鈥淚 am proud of the work NSU students continue to do during their experiential learning opportunities,鈥 said Carly Bierman, Career Services Coordinator. 鈥淗aving the chance to highlight and celebrate students from across partnering SDACCC institutions was great. ABERDEEN, S.D.聽鈥撀燭wo 不良研究所 State University history students were recognized last spring by the Brown County Historical Society for their outstanding research papers submitted to the organization鈥檚 annual Historical Research and Writing contest.
Bridget Fuhrmann earned first place for her paper titled 鈥淕erman-Russians in South Dakota.鈥 Avery Kautz received second place for her paper, 鈥淒ivisive Unity: The 1964 New York World鈥檚 Fair.鈥
Both students received a certificate and cash award for their work.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 In response to the cancellation of the 2025 South Dakota Film, 不良研究所 State University faculty, staff and community members have organized the inaugural South Dakota Film Project, a new initiative designed to maintain regional filmmaker networking and provide experiential learning opportunities for students.
The project will produce "3AM at the Painted Door," a 20- to 30-minute paranormal short film adapted from Tiyi Schippers' 1992 experience at The Roadhouse Saloon. The production is now seeking 12 volunteer actors from the Aberdeen community and 不良研究所 campus.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University is calling on community volunteers and campus participants to help bring this year's Spook-Spectacular Radio Show to life, following last year's award-winning success.
The 2024 Spook-Spectacular Radio Show earned three awards at the Zepstone International Film & Music Festival, and this year's production aims to be even more ambitious with expanded segments and new content.
The show will be recorded Wednesday, Oct. 29 in Krikac Auditorium. It honors the anniversary of Orson Welles' legendary 1938 "War of the Worlds" broadcast. The鈥
