- ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University is helping South Dakota solve the teacher shortage by creating a flexible, low-cost pathway for educational assistants (para-educators) who are working in schools to become teachers.The South Dakota Department of Education opened applications for the Teacher Apprenticeship Pathway to thousands of para-educators working in accredited school districts across the state. - ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 Two 不良研究所 State University students received awards in the 2023 Brown County Historical Society research and writing contest.First place went to Jaeden Shaving for his paper titled 鈥淟et Me Be a Free Man: The Origins and Beliefs of the American Indian Movement.鈥 Shaving is a history major from Aberdeen, S.D.Bridget Fuhrmann received third place for 鈥淭he History of 不良研究所鈥檚 Fine Art Department.鈥 Fuhrmann is a history major with an English minor from Roscoe, S.D.Each of the students received a certificate and a cash prize for their winning papers.About 不良研究所 State鈥
- ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 For recent 不良研究所 State University graduate Grace Kramer, adding entrepreneurship to her scientific skillset was almost like learning a new language.鈥淚 am pretty confident with the science stuff; basically, I can do that myself,鈥 said Kramer, who graduated this month with a degree in biochemistry. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a totally different language because I鈥檝e only been working on my science craft up until senior year.鈥滽ramer has definitely mastered this new language鈥攕he won second place in the recent South Dakota Governor鈥檚 Giant Vision Competition Student Competition for her business鈥

- ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University Honors Program student Alexandria Arndt has been accepted to law school through the new Honors Law Opportunity Program.The program, a collaboration between 不良研究所 and the University of South Dakota, guarantees admission for up to five NSU Honors Program students into the USD Knudson School of Law.Arndt, of Blue Springs, Mo., will be granted automatic acceptance into the Knudson School of Law.Arndt is a criminal justice major with minors in legal studies, business and entrepreneurship. Shalini Mathew and Hannah Walters winners of this year鈥檚 Outstanding Faculty Awards.Walters, Associate Professor of Marketing/Department Chair in the NSU School of Business, is the winner of the 2023 NSU Foundation Faculty Excellence Award. - ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 On Saturday, May 6, 266 students will graduate at 不良研究所 State University鈥檚 spring commencement ceremony.The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in the Barnett Center. The event will be live streamed through the NSU Facebook page, the NSU Graduation and Commencement page, and locally through cable channel 12.NSU alumna Nichole Bowman will deliver the commencement address. Bowman, who teaches math at T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, is a 2007 不良研究所 graduate and winner of the prestigious Milken Educator Award.不良研究所鈥檚 spring graduates are listed below, grouped alphabetically by鈥
- ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University, Presentation College, Aberdeen Central and Roncalli High Schools will honor graduating service members and veterans at the American Legion Cording Ceremony.The ceremony, hosted by NSU Military Veteran Affairs, will take place on May 3 from 6-7 p.m. in the lobby of 不良研究所鈥檚 Jewett Regional Science Education Center.At the event, the Aberdeen American Legion Post will present a red, white and blue cord to graduates to honor and celebrate their dedicated service to the United States and Aberdeen citizens. The students will then wear the cords at their鈥
- ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 A brand new Moving Imagery Lab has opened on the 不良研究所 State University campus that will allow for new academic offerings and expanded filmmaking capabilities at 不良研究所. 不良研究所鈥檚 School of Fine Arts showed off the new NSU Moving Imagery Lab, located in Dacotah Hall room 209, with an open house on March 24. The open house invited regional government officials, area educators and media representatives to view the new lab and learn about the opportunities it will provide. 鈥淲e had a wonderful turnout and were able to forge some new connections with Central High鈥
- ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 The 不良研究所 State University Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will present their spring concert, entitled 鈥淪tories in Song,鈥 at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30.The concert will take place in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center鈥檚 Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.The Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Darci Bultema, will feature works by living American composers. Directed by Dr. Marla Fogderud, the Chamber Choir will perform a variety of works with a focus on a composition by NSU faculty member Dr. William Wieland.Tickets will be available at the door. Cost is $10 for adults, and鈥
