ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 The Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony invites you to a concert inspired by colors of the rainbow at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at 不良研究所 State University.
The concert, which will be held in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater, feature soloists from the Aberdeen area, including 不良研究所 faculty members and a side-by-side selection with Aberdeen Central High School Orchestra. A Pre-Concert Conversation is scheduled for 6:45-7:15 p.m. in JFAC Berggren Recital Hall.
Dr. Christopher Stanichar, Director of the AUCS, will lead the orchestra. Some of the featured works on the鈥
ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 The 不良研究所 State University Fall Jazz Concert will take place Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater.
The concert will feature the 2 O鈥機lock Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Grant Manhart, NSU professor of music.
Tickets will be available at the door, at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for NSU faculty and staff. 不良研究所 students are admitted free with student ID.
The concert will also be livestreamed at the NSU Music Department Facebook page.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 Three 不良研究所 State University students were selected for a panel at a recent national humor studies conference鈥攁nd one of the students took home a top award.
NSU student Kenissa Ross, from Aberdeen, won the Eugenio E. Zaldivar Award for Top Undergraduate Paper at the annual meeting of the Lighthearted Philosophers' Society, which was held Oct. 7-8 in Greensboro, N.C.
Ross, an English major with TESOL emphasis, received the award for her paper about the ethics of the book, 鈥溾
ABERDEEN, SD 鈥 不良研究所 State University will host An Evening With South Dakota Poets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Beulah Williams Library Rotunda.
The event will feature 不良研究所鈥檚 Dr. Lysbeth Benkert, Professor of English and author of the poetry chapbook, 鈥#girl stuff.鈥 Also featured will be Joseph Bottum, poetry editor of the New York Sun; winner of the Christopher Award for children鈥檚 literature; and author of the new volume of poetry, 鈥淪pending the Winter: A Poetry Collection.鈥
The poetry reading, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the NSU English鈥
ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University will host a reception for Jason Briggs, 不良研究所鈥檚 first visiting artist of the academic year, on Monday, Oct. 17.
Briggs鈥 reception will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Monday in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery. At 7 p.m., he will give a brief artist talk about his display, 鈥淭ouch,鈥 which is a walkthrough exhibition of porcelain works.
The reception is free and open to the public. Briggs鈥 artwork will be on display in the JFAC Gallery through Nov. 18. The public is welcome to view it during gallery hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.鈥
ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University鈥檚 criminal justice major is now offered online as well as on campus.
不良研究所 has also signed an articulation agreement allowing graduates of Southeast Technical College鈥檚 law enforcement program to complete the NSU bachelor鈥檚 degree in criminal justice online in just two years. This provides a seamless path to further education for students at STC.
The agreement is in addition to a similar agreement between the two institutions that allows STC graduates to earn six different business degrees (accounting, banking and financial services,鈥

ABERDEEN, SD鈥 不良研究所 State University will hold a dedication ceremony for its South Dakota Tribal Flag Display on Thursday, Oct. 13.
The event will begin with a Smudging at 3:30 p.m. on the campus green outside the Avera Student Center. At 4 p.m., the dedication will take place in the Avera Student Center Mezzanine.
The dedication will include remarks by NSU American Indian Circle Program Director Lara Nelson, Native American Student Association President Alexis Martin and NSU President Neal Schnoor. The ceremony will also feature Honor Guard Procession by Akicita Indigenous Woman鈥
ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University, in a strategic partnership with the Aberdeen Development Corporation (ADC), has secured a Venture Challenge grant via the U.S. Economic Development Administration Build to Scale (B2S) program.
不良研究所 and the ADC worked with the Center on Rural Innovation (CORI) to apply for this grant as part of CORI鈥檚 2022 Rural Innovation Initiative, a technical assistance program empowering rural communities to create inclusive digital economies that support scalable entrepreneurship and tech job creation.
The initiative was launched in 2018 by CORI and鈥
