The episode includes an interview with Professor of Government Dr. Jon Schaff, director of the Center for Public History and Civic Engagement, on his scholarly publications.
It also includes an interview with College of Arts and Sciences Associate Dean Dr. Elizabeth Haller and Associate Professor of Sociology Dr. Kristi Brownfield on scary movies for Halloween.

ABERDEEN, SD 鈥 不良研究所 State University students will compete shark tank-style this week at the NSU Idea Pitch Competition鈥攁nd the winner will take home $500 cash.
The competition, which is open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in 不良研究所鈥檚 Lincoln Gallery. Five student teams will pitch their ideas to four community judges. The student competitors and their ideas are:
Alexandria Arndt, a criminal justice major from Blue Springs, Mo., will pitch the idea, 鈥淏uddy System.鈥
Addison Cumbow, a special and elementary education major from Pierre, will pitch the鈥

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University Bands will present a concert, titled 鈥淣ew Beginnings,鈥 at 3 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater.
The concert will feature the NSU Symphonic Band and Concert Band and will introduce new conductors for both. Dr. Audrey Miller is the new Symphonic Band conductor, and Dr. Travis Netzer is the new Concert Band conductor.
The Symphonic Band will perform pieces including 鈥淗andel in the Strand,鈥 by Percy Grainger, arranged by John Philip Sousa; 鈥淧athways,鈥 by Danielle Fisher; 鈥溾

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 A partnership between 不良研究所 State University and Aberdeen鈥檚 One-Legged Pheasant has resulted in a new brew that is raising scholarship funds for NSU students.
But the creation of Alpha Lager has also provided an experiential learning opportunity for 不良研究所鈥檚 science students.
That includes NSU senior Kennedy Davis of Fairfax, Va., who is interning at One-Legged Pheasant.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a very rewarding experience,鈥 said Davis, a biochemistry and German major. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not something you really get in鈥
ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 An exhibition by 不良研究所 State University student Kai Brisk is currently on display in Gallery X, located in room 106 of the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center.
The exhibition, which will be on display through Nov. 14, includes artwork featuring his interpretation of techniques and styles he learned about during his artist residency in Greece.
Brisk鈥檚 residency was partially funded by his 不良研究所 Edge Award. This undergraduate research award is intended to aid students in under-represented disciplines and/or projects that may not normally be eligible for other funding鈥

ABERDEEN, SD 鈥 不良研究所 State University Opera will present 鈥淎mahl and the Night Visitors,鈥 featuring the talents of world-renowned musicians, NSU fine arts faculty and students, and local child performers.
Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Nov. 19, in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center鈥檚 Black Box Theater.

ABERDEEN, SD 鈥 不良研究所 State University Vice President of Enrollment, Communications and Marketing Justin Fraase has accepted a Senior Director of Strategic Communications position at the University of Iowa.
Fraase has been at 不良研究所 since 2017, leading the Communications and Marketing Department for six years. In 2020, he added enrollment to his portfolio and was named Vice President of Enrollment, Communications and Marketing.
鈥淛ustin has been a valued member of our campus and community and will be missed,鈥 said President Neal Schnoor. 鈥淗e has led campus rebranding efforts鈥

March, who plays the trumpet, will perform 鈥淪onate pour Trompette et Piano, I. Sarabande & 2. Intermede,鈥 Jean Hubeau; 鈥淭rumpet Concerto in Eb Major, I. Allegro,鈥 Johann Baptist Georg Neruda; and 鈥淪onata for Trumpet & Piano, Movt. 1,鈥 Kent Kennan. Her accompanist will be Kay Fischer.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 For 不良研究所 State University student Demi Waldner, studying abroad was a life-changing experience鈥攁nd even led to her determining her career path after college.
Waldner spent a year in South Korea鈥攈er first time traveling abroad鈥攁nd said it was an amazing experience.
鈥淚鈥檇 say the best part was learning both the language and the culture,鈥 said Waldner, a junior English major.
While there, she also learned that to work as an English teacher, she just needs a bachelor鈥檚 degree from an English-speaking university.

ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 不良研究所 State University Professor of History Dr. Ric Dias has published his second book, 鈥淜aiser Steel of Fontana; Together we Build.鈥
The book, released July 4 from The History Press, examines how industrialist Henry J. Kaiser used novel labor relations around World War II to break into and then succeed in the highly competitive steel industry.
This week, Dias will be attending the Author Fair at K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library, 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. He will give a brief talk and sign copies of his book, which will be available to purchase.
